Stefan Ekehaug holds an MSc in Marine Biology from NTNU in Trondheim, and wrote his master’s thesis on the use of sonar imaging of coral reefs and kelp forests using autonomous underwater vehicles. He was employed at a small technology company in Trondheim from 2013-2019, where he developed new methods for environmental monitoring of the seafloor for the oil/gas and aquaculture industry. During this time, he led and delivered projects focusing on GIS (mapping data) and processing and analysis of subsea hyperspectral images and was instrumental in the development of the first ROV-mounted hyperspectral subsea camera from the prototype stage. In addition, he has worked on projects on automatic monitoring of salmon lice, participating in model building and leading deployment of units.
