Kari Lisbeth Fjørtoft
Kari Lisbeth Fjørtoft is a fishery science graduate from the Norwegian College of Fishery Science, UiT The Arctic University of Norway (1993). After completing her studies she worked for a year in Spain at a company importing and selling seafood. Among other things she worked with salmon market research. Previously she has also worked at fish-farming plants and have experience from fishing. She started working at Møreforsking in 1995.
Fjørtoft works together with the fishing industry along the entire value chain with research and development projects. Central fields of work include product and market-related issues. She works with market surveys, product testing and branding. Niche products and unutilized species/resources has been a key focus, but also commercial products are important areas. Examples of topics are deep sea species, grenadier, rest raw material, winkle, scallop, sea cucumber, crab, crayfish, roe, wet salted fish, clipfish, farmed halibut, pelagic species and fish oil. She also works on projects aimed at children, youth and tourists. She has also carried out various evaluation projects.
